# How to keep historical attribution data when you switch MMP

Keep historical attribution data when you switch MMP: export windows per vendor, what each deletes after the contract ends, how to import, and warehouse tips.

**Short answer**

Export before you give notice. Raw data windows are short at some vendors (AppsFlyer's raw reports API looks back **90 days**, Tenjin datasets cover up to 30 days each), and several vendors delete customer data within 30 to 90 days of the contract ending.

## What is historical attribution data?

Historical attribution data is the record of which network, campaign and click or impression your past installs and in-app events were credited to, kept as raw rows or as aggregated reports.

**Raw (user-level) data:** one row per install, event or click, with device and campaign fields.

**Aggregated data:** totals by day, network and campaign, without individual rows.

You need both: raw rows for cohort and LTV rebuilds, aggregates for long trend lines in reports.

## How far back can you export?

It depends on the vendor and your plan: windows run from 30 days per dataset at Tenjin to 25 months of aggregated data at AppsFlyer. Raw data almost always has a shorter window than aggregates.

| Vendor | Raw data | Aggregated data |
|---|---|---|
| Adjust | Server callbacks and hourly cloud storage uploads; no backfill or lookback limit published | Not published |
| Airbridge | Raw data export on the Growth plan, not on Core | Actuals Report views up to 400 days, as CSV or Google Sheets |
| AppMetrica | Logs API exports as CSV or JSON, default period the last 7 days | Not published |
| AppsFlyer | 90-day lookback; attribution reports default to 60 of the last 90 days, in-app events to 31 of 90; Data Locker has no historical data | 25 months from first install |
| Branch | Custom Exports 120-day rolling window; Daily Exports kept 6 months, with IP and ad IDs hashed after 7 days | 2-year rolling window |
| Kochava | Retention 30 days (Free), 180 days (Foundation), 365+ days (Enterprise); Raw Data Query on Enterprise only | Summary reports on Free |
| Linkrunner | Unrestricted CSV, API and webhook exports, no export fees | Same |
| Singular | Export Logs from the start of the previous month; ETL is an enterprise feature | Not published |
| Tenjin | Raw Data Exporter, up to 30 days per dataset, on every plan | Not published |

Plan limits matter as much as windows. At AppsFlyer, raw data access depends on your package including it, and Data Locker is marked Premium. At Branch, Daily Exports need a Data Feeds subscription. If export add-ons are part of why you are leaving, [MMP pricing compared](https://mmpcompares.com/mmp-pricing/) shows which plans include them.

## What happens to your data after the contract ends?

Several vendors publish a deletion or retention limit after termination, and none of them promise to keep data for you indefinitely.

- **Adjust:** "Adjust will delete the Customer Data within 60 days" of termination or expiry, unless the law requires longer.
- **Airbridge:** personal data is "completely deleted 30 days after the termination", with export enabled at termination.
- **AppMetrica:** no deletion clause in its standard terms; deleted app data can be restored through support within 14 days, not after.
- **AppsFlyer:** a deletion timeline for paid accounts is not published. Free accounts can be removed after 90 days of inactivity.
- **Branch:** "no obligation to retain Customer Data beyond ninety (90) days" after the services end.
- **Kochava:** paid plan terms are not published.
- **Singular:** on termination, all Customer Data "shall be permanently deleted" ( [Singular terms](https://www.singular.net/terms/)).
- **Tenjin:** deletes all customer personal data at expiry or termination.

Treat the termination date as your export deadline, and the notice date as your real start. The [switch timeline guide](https://switchmmp.com/guides/how-long-does-an-mmp-switch-take/) places exports before the notice goes out.

## Can you import history into the new MMP?

Some tools accept imported data, mostly to deduplicate future installs rather than to rebuild old dashboards.

- **Airbridge:** device IDs and user IDs from the previous MMP can optionally be uploaded, to smooth out performance discrepancies before and after onboarding.
- **AppMetrica:** attribution data can be imported from Adjust, Airbridge, AppsFlyer, Kochava, Singular and Tenjin. A guide to migrating historical installs is not published.
- **Kochava:** the Traffic Import Tool ingests historical data from other providers. Import all installs before any post-install events: events imported first create placeholder installs, and later installs are discarded as duplicates.
- **Tenjin:** publishes migration decks for AppsFlyer and Adjust, and asks other providers to contact support.

For other vendors, plan on keeping history in your own storage.

## Warehouse tips

Your own warehouse is the only copy that survives every future switch.

- **Export raw first.** Raw windows close soonest; aggregates last longer.
- **Chunk the exports.** Tenjin datasets cover up to 30 days each, and Kochava detail reports cap at 1 million rows, so script exports by date range.
- **Deliver to your own bucket.** Adjust uploads to Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage, and Kochava can deposit reports into your own S3 bucket.
- **Save the definitions.** Record attribution windows, event names and currency settings with the files, or old numbers will not be comparable.
- **Keep a campaign crosswalk.** Map old campaign and network names to the new tool's naming.
- **Check hashed fields.** At Branch, IP and advertising IDs are hashed after 7 days, so device-level joins need early exports.

Some MMPs, Linkrunner among them, offer unrestricted exports and warehouse delivery to BigQuery, Redshift or Snowflake on request, which makes the next switch simpler. Whichever tool you move to, confirm its export terms before you sign: the [AppsFlyer switching page](https://switchmmp.com/from/appsflyer/) and the [migration checklist](https://switchmmp.com/checklist/) both include this step, and the [planner](https://switchmmp.com/) schedules it.

## Questions

**When should I start exporting?**

Before you send the non-renewal notice. AppsFlyer's raw reports look back 90 days and Branch Custom Exports cover 120 days, and some vendors delete data within 30 to 90 days of termination.

**Will my old MMP keep my data after I leave?**

Not reliably. Adjust deletes within 60 days, Airbridge within 30 days, Singular deletes permanently on termination, and Branch has no obligation to keep data beyond 90 days.

**Can I load old installs into my new MMP?**

Sometimes. Kochava has a Traffic Import Tool and Airbridge accepts identifier uploads, mostly to deduplicate future installs, so a warehouse copy is still the safer record.

**Do I need raw data or are aggregated reports enough?**

Aggregates cover trend lines, but cohort, LTV and device-level reconciliation need raw rows. Raw windows are shorter, so export them first.

**How long does it take to switch MMP?**

This site's planner pencils in about 7 to 12 weeks from contract check to retiring the old setup, most of it a 2 to 4 week parallel run. No vendor publishes a standard length; your release cycle, renewal notice and ad-network learning phases set the real pace.

**Can I run two MMP SDKs at the same time?**

Yes, for a while. AppsFlyer and Singular both publish guides for measuring with two MMPs, but SKAN postbacks go to only one MMP, TikTok supports one MMP at a time and X Ads does not support two.
